What Data We Collect

None. Media Grabber does not collect any personally identifiable information, browsing history, or usage analytics.

Local Storage

Media Grabber stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local):

• Download count — a number tracking how many files you've downloaded (used to manage the free tier limit of 20 downloads)
• Premium status — a boolean indicating whether you've purchased the premium upgrade
• Onboarding status — whether you've completed the first-run tutorial

This data never leaves your device. It is not sent to any server, third party, or analytics service.

Permissions

Media Grabber requests the following Chrome permissions, each used solely for its core functionality:

• downloads — to save images, videos, and GIF files to your computer
• activeTab — to access the current page's media when you click the extension icon
• tabs — to detect tab changes for scanning and to verify payment success
• scripting — to inject the image gallery and video detection into pages
• offscreen — to run video-to-GIF conversion without blocking the interface
• storage — to save your download count and premium status locally
• host permissions — to download media files hosted on any domain (CDNs, media servers)

Third-Party Services

Media Grabber uses Stripe for payment processing when upgrading to Premium. When you click "Unlock Premium," you are redirected to Stripe's hosted payment page. Media Grabber does not see, store, or process your payment details. Stripe's privacy policy applies to that transaction.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, transfer, or share any user data with third parties. There are no analytics, tracking pixels, or advertising SDKs in this extension.

Data Retention

Since no data is collected on our servers, there is nothing to retain or delete. Local storage data can be cleared by uninstalling the extension or clearing Chrome's extension data.

Children's Privacy

Media Grabber does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Since we collect no data at all, this is inherently satisfied.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Since we don't collect email addresses, we cannot notify users directly — please check this page periodically.
